TRIO Talent Search works with students on College & Career Preparation, Financial Aid, and Study Skills.
A core piece of our curriculum is Senior Advising, where advisors work closely with high school seniors on college, financial aid, and scholarship applications, and help them with the transition from high school to higher education. We encourage our students to pursue all post-high school paths, including 4-year university, 2-year college, and career and technical education programs. Finally, summertime provides opportunities to bring TRiO Talent Search students to Cal Poly Humboldt and CR campuses for summer day camps.

Dr. Michelle Cartier - College & Career Access Advisor for South Fork High School and Miranda Jr. High School.
Michelle has been working with the TRiO program at SFHS and MJHS for approximately 10 years now and believes in the opportunities provided through pursuing education (whether that be trade and career school or a 2-year or 4-year college); she is dedicated to supporting the goals and interests of students in Southern Humboldt to shape their specific future. Michelle also teaches as a full time faculty at Cal Poly Humboldt in the Film program as well as serving as associate faculty at College of the Redwoods. She is on campus every week on Wednesdays to work with and support TRiO students (from 7th - 12th grade). While the majority of time is focused on TRiO seniors (to help with financial aid, scholarships, college applications and job readiness), TRiO meetings and presentations provide a rotating curriculum that is geared towards each grade level throughout every month.
